The Virality Score Explained: Hook, Flow, Value and Trend
Every clip ANYCLIP extracts gets a score from 0 to 100. It is not a vanity number — it is a triage tool. With fifty candidate clips from one webinar, the score answers the only question that matters: what do I post first?
The four dimensions
Hook (the first 3 seconds). Short-form retention is decided almost immediately. The hook sub-score reads whether the clip opens on attention-grabbing language, a question, a surprising claim or an emotional beat — versus a slow warm-up.
Flow (pacing and coherence). A clip can have a great opening and still lose viewers if the middle drags or the cuts feel random. Flow measures pacing, sentence coherence and caption rhythm — whether the clip sustains attention once it has earned it.
Value (the takeaway). Viewers share clips that give them something: a tactic, a punchline, a reframe of a familiar problem. Value estimates how much standalone takeaway the moment delivers without the surrounding context of the full video.
Trend (platform alignment). The same clip performs differently depending on what short-form feeds currently reward — length, format, topic energy. Trend compares the moment's characteristics with what is performing now on short-form platforms.
How to read the combined score
- 90–100: ship it today, as-is.
- 75–89: strong candidate — check the caption and cover, then schedule.
- 50–74: fixable — a stronger opening caption or a tighter cut can move it up.
- Below 50: salvage material — keep it for remixes or combine it with better moments.
Scores are a starting gun, not a verdict
The score tells you where to spend your attention, not what destiny a clip has. Two practices get the most out of it: post the top decile first and watch real retention against the predicted one; and when a score surprises you — high or low — open the clip and look at the sub-scores to see why. That feedback loop is how you learn what your audience (and the algorithm) respond to.
